Pantone Colour Institute, the international authority on colour, each year announces The Pantone Colour Of The Year. Inspired by nature, Pantone has just announced the 2017 Colour Of The Year as Green – Greenery Pantone 15-0343. Huge applause from me as green has been a favourite colour since childhood, so I’ve been waiting a long time for green to come into fashion.

Pantone describe green “as a refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.

Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.

A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.”

USING GREEN IN YOUR INTERIORS

Decorate walls in shades of green paint and botanical wallpapers to create an atmosphere where we feel good all year round. Hang art prints with shades of green on your walls and containing nature and botanical subjects. Indoor plants are back in fashion so go nuts with indoor plants in big pots, and potted greenery in small pots and hanging baskets placed around the room.

To celebrate, I have rounded up my favourite interiors and home decor products using green to inspire decorating your home over the next 12 months.
