In September I announced I was going to start a monthly blog series – well that all but lasted two seconds as I missed October completely. That pretty much tells you how flat out I have been.

September through December is pretty hectic for wedding photographers as the Spring/Summer wedding season is the peak time of year for weddings here in Australia. Blame it on our beautiful climate – not too hot and not too cold compared to some parts of the world.

It also means I didn’t get out and about for my Tuesday ‘Me’ days. They got filled up with me doing some editing for another wedding photographer to help with her gigantic workload. That actually started because she needed a second shooter for a wedding and then turned into me doing some editing. I also second shot for another photographer too.

In all my 10 years as a wedding photographer I could count on one hand how many times I have second shot for another photographer. Not for any other reason that I had a thriving wedding photography business in Brisbane. Since moving back to Sydney, I have had a few more Saturdays available so I decided I would like to do some second shooting. Why? Because I can take a back seat in the running of the day and focus on being the fly on the wall kind of photographer and just be more creative rather than focusing on the must-have wedding photos and directing people. It was a totally fun experience to work behind the scenes. I think its good to get out of one’s comfort zone and try different things and challenge oneself. I definitely would like to do more second shooting in 2020.

It’s always a fun experience to work with other creatives and one I encourage. Especially for those of us solopreneurs who spend our weekdays behind a computer screen and don’t come up for air to see other people. It was a great experience to see how her studio operates, see her workflow and editing processes. But also good to get back to my own editing .. haha!

As its all been about weddings for me, the November journal is going to be mostly about catching you up on the weddings I have photographed and sharing the lovely couples I had the pleasure of spending the day with and of course documenting their special day.

OCTOBER WEDDING HIGHLIGHTS

A Romantic Rainforest Wedding In Megalong Valley, Blue Mountains

Taylor & David’s relaxed outdoor wedding in the Blue Mountains was one to remember. The photos we took in Megalong Valley were everything I hoped to capture! You might remember me blogging about location scouting for this wedding HERE and spending a lovely tranquil afternoon in the peaceful rainforest. Below are a couple of wedding photos from the wedding day – but you can check out their Blue Mountains wedding HERE.

NOVEMBER WEDDING HIGHLIGHTS

A Fun Elopement At Berowra Waters Inn

First, a boat ride to Berowra Waters Inn to wait for the arrival of Nicole & Peter. Truly these intimate elopements really tug at your heart strings! One minute the two were in fits of laughter and the next happy tears rolled down their faces. These two showing you can find true love at any age. If I could bottle the excitement of these two saying their I-do’s I would be a billionaire. Again I’m still editing their elopement photos but here is a sneak peek as they were announced husband & wife.
